Welcome to the web site for John Hubert Doty. He was a husband, father, grandfather, soldier, and teacher. He was also a genealogist. In a time before it was popular, he became interested in his family's history by listening to his grandmother's stories told to him in the 1930s. When he became financially capable of pursuing the interest, he tenaciously sought out his family's story, trying his best to sort out myth from reality. This pursuit began in earnest in the 1950s and continued until his death in 1998. He was a rare man, all who met him never forgot him.
He came to believe that he had found most of the truth about the family. He published three books on the families that were his ancestors. He updated all three of them. He left records for a further update of each of the books. His daughter has taken on the responsibility to meet her father's desire.
This site provides access to his biography and to each of his three books. As the books are updated, a link to them will appear on this site along with ordering information and information about the particular families that they cover.
